How to Use This Website - A note from your Webmaster

Most VFW Department, District and Posts websites look completely different from one another. Learning your way around a new one, especially a VFW post site this large, can be intimidating.

A few rules apply in order to use this site:

The main menu and submenu at the top of every page (under graphics banner) require Flash Player, a free download from Adobe (formerly Macromedia Flash Player). The submenu is viewable when you place your mouse pointer over a main menu category. Chances are you already have Flash Player installed, since so many websites use it. A copy of the menu and submenu is immediately below this paragraph. If you do not see the menus it means you do not have it installed. Download and install Flash Player here.

All menu items are "clickable" meaning you can click on the main categories as well as the submenu categories. Each menu item opens a different page.

The submenu is only visible when you place your mouse cursor over the menu item or click it (Internet Explorer requires that you click the main menu item before you can see the submenu). As webmaster, my personal choice in browsers is Mozilla Firefox, which allows me to view the submenu items by just placing my cursor over the main menu (no clicking necessary). It has allows you to have multiple tabs with different windows (Netscape offers the same feature, as does Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2). Mozilla Firefox is a very popular browser and can be downloaded free from the Mozilla website here.

The main menu and submenu are designed to be changed as little as possible. Many pages have a box or boxes to the right of the page with links to related categories. These boxes/menus may change on occasion.

The Photo Album slideshow also requires Flash Player, downloadable here.

There are many Adobe Acrobat documents in this website, therefore requiring Adobe Acrobat Reader to be installed on your computer. Once again, this is an application you probably already use; they use the .pdf file extension. If you do not have it yet, download here.

Printing the Online Newsletter

A number of users have indicated difficulty printing the newsletter, so please read these instructions carefully.

The newsletter is in Flash format, as are the main and sub-menus and the Photo Album. Each Flash newsletter has its own menu for navigation and printing. DO NOT USE YOUR BROWSER'S MENU TO PRINT THE NEWSLETTER. Microsoft Internet Explorer, Netscape, Firefox and Opera are examples of popular browsers. A graphical representation of the newsletter is below, with arrows pointing to and explaining the different Flash document menu items. If you require further clarification, please contact me at webmaster@vfwpost7327.org and include a contact telephone number.

If at any time you experience errors or would like more help in understanding the site, please contact me at webmaster@vfwpost7327.org. I would also welcome your comments and suggestions on how the site can be improved to help you.

This page will be the place to check for information on changes to the site. Enjoy!
