America Bands Together
The Veterans of Foreign Wars "America Bands Together" patriotic program is expected to unite millions of Americans in publicly displaying their support of America's men and women in uniform by wearing the VFW's new commemorative bracelet. The wristband, engraved with the words "I Support Our Troops," is blood red, which symbolizes the sacrifices of all the nation's veterans who have helped keep America free.

Welcome to Springfield Post 7327 - the Friendliest VFW Post in Virginia!

Springfield Post 7327 awarded All-State and All-American honors and also named Captains of the All-State Team. Post Quartermaster, Terri Andreoni, receives W. I. Wooddell Award for best Quartermaster in the Department of Virginia! Our Ladies Auxiliary Secretary, Alice Merrill, won the first-ever Department of Virginia Award for Outstanding Auxiliary Secretary.

Welcome to the VFW Springfield Post 7327 website.  Jam-packed in this award-winning website you can find an answer to all your questions - or a person/organization who can find the answer.

This year is a pivotal one for our post. In the past 18 months, we have sold our old post home, moved into temporary administrative housing and purchased land to build an extraordinary post home in the heart of Springfield, Virginia and the Ft. Belvoir community.  As of 22 April 2008, we have received the special exception permit to begin our construction. We hope to break ground this summer and christen the new post home on the most fitting day - the 4th of July, 2009 - 63 years after our charter in 1946.
Until then, we are located at 8350-F Terminal Road in Lorton, Virginia. Please feel free to visit us. Our phone number remains the same -- 703-541-3139. Our post hours continue to be 11:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. Our general membership meetings are the 3rd Monday of the month. The Ladies Auxiliary meets at 7:30 p.m. and the post meets at 8:00 p.m. Contact any Post or Auxiliary Officer if you have questions.

Over the weekend of May 17-18, judges from around Virginia gathered at the Department Headquarters for the annual judging of posts, districts, and individual categories.  We are proud to announce that Springfield Post 7327 was selected for the All-State Team and awarded “All-State Post” status. This means that out of the 175 plus VFW posts in Virginia, Springfield Post 7327 is one of the top 20 posts in Virginia.  We were also named the “All-State Team Captains” which is awarded to the best post in Virginia. Congratulations to all of the members of Post 7327 and the ladies of the Auxiliary. Together, we met all of the requirements and were deemed the best! Along with the state honors, we are also poised to become an “All-American” Post, awarded by the National VFW Commander. Judging for this honor begins after 30 June 2008—so stay tuned! To earn these honors, the post my exceed their membership from last year (105 and 110% respectively), participate in all of the VFW core programs, complete all reporting and inspection requirements and submit an activity book highlighting the previous year’s community activities.  This year alone, our post has completed over one hundred projects, logged over 3500 hours of volunteerism (that was reported) and driven thousands of miles in support of veterans, service members and the community.  Here is a synopsis of some of our programs:

Springfield VFW Post 7327 has one of the most aggressive ADOPT-A-UNIT programs in the Veterans of Foreign Wars.  This past year alone, we’ve spent over $1500 to ship packages to Afghanistan and Iraq. We plan to adopt more units and will continue to support our service members overseas.

  • Post 7327 visits the VA Hospital in Washington, D.C. at least every three months. We prepare as many as 120 “goodie bags” in advance of our trip and distribute them to residents of our adopted unit. We play Bingo with those who can join us in the assembly hall and we always ensure that everyone leaves “a winner”. We also visit those confined to their beds.

  • VFW Post 7327 is very active in community service. Our Ladies Auxiliary members collect, sort and distribute more than 2,000 pieces of clothing each month to various needy and charitable organizations, in addition to providing cooking utensils and small appliances. Also, VFW Post 7327 is a strong and active supporter of numerous community and military organizations including the local Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Little League Baseball, civilian/military adult softball and the Adopt-a-Highway Program.

  • This past year alone, we’ve celebrated numerous Patriotic Holidays, adopted military and civilian families for Thanksgiving and Christmas, participated in collecting gifts for the Children’s Hospital (Santa’s Ride), and much more.

Advertising and communication are important for our post. We stay connected to 700 members through the website, newsletter and newly-formed Blog site. The post has been very successful in all endeavors. Please take a look at our award-winning website!

In August 2006 and August 2007, Post 7327 won 1st place in the VFW competition for best VFW post/district web site worldwide.  There are approximately 9,000 posts in the nation and our post was judged as having the best web site.  Our newsletter and website are indicative of the thousands of hours of tireless work by our dedicated members. But our accomplishments don’t stop there.

At VFW Post 7327, our newsletter, the Camaraderie, keeps members informed of what is taking place at the local level. It is written, edited and published monthly by Post members. In 2005, our newsletter was voted the best in Virginia and third best in the Nation. In 2006, our newsletter was voted best not only in Virginia, but the entire nation. This outstanding accomplishment highlights our commitment to keep every member as informed as possible through accurate, timely and effective communications. And best of all, you can view it online on the best VFW post or district website in the world!
